- Using distilled water will significantly reduce future cleaning frequency, especially in areas with hard tap water.

If placing near a stairwell or an area where the fountain can be seen from above, you may wish to purchase an indoor hood cover for aesthetic reasons. Only visible from the top, an indoor cover is a piece of black material that sits on top of or just inside the hood to cover the top opening from view.
